Installation Issue; Add/Remove Programs: The specified service does not exist as an installed service 'EXEC SQL DESCRIBE SELECT LIST' returns 'Specified partition does not exist' query to check if a certain value does exist in a field; Does exist a function to insert a string into another one?
Technote Description: If you attempt to run a batch (.bat) or a command (.cmd) file, that contains a hardcoded path to the jre directory, you may get a basic failure message indicating: The system can not find the path specified. Also, depending on the call that is being attempted in the file, the above message may be followed by a non-zero return code.return code from is 1.return code from is 3 and may be preceded by a return value from the process that was attempted ( such as in the examples from changePassword.cmd ).CreateProcess error=2 Fix: N/A Work-around: If you encounter the above 'path' message, as a result of running a.bat or.cmd file, you can make a change that will allow the file to run. First, check the installation directory of the ISD server code to see what jre names exist in C: Program Files IBM Director bin a) Make a backup of the.bat or.cmd file. B) Change the String ' jre ' to match the name of another jre folder.
Example: If the command in the batch file contains a string such as. Jre bin java -cp change it to. Jre.new bin java -cp See technote 733262921 Storage Control 4.2.1.1 Installation Will Fail on Windows if the JRE Directory of Director Changes for specific issues with Storage Control install. Details: Generally, if you install a jre update for your ISD installation, the path to the jre directory and the directory name are synchronized, after a restart of the ISD server. Operating system (OS) jre updates will be synchronized after an OS restart. At times, the update of IBM Systems Director (ISD) will cause it to create a new JRE directory, in the Director folder (for example, the JRE Director will change to C: Program Files IBM Director jre.new or C: Program Files IBM Director jre.update.
On Windows), and it will cause the program to fail. In an old or no longer needed directory the bin/java.exe file in the jre directory, may have a size of zero bytes.

The correct Java home setting for ISD can be found in C: Program Files IBM Director lwi conf javaHome.bat Example: set JAVAHOME=C: Program Files IBM Director jre 3. The message ' The system can not find the path specified. ' differs from an actual command file that is missing.
In the case where the file name was mis-typed, the command is not in your path or no longer exists, the error message from the OS would show the name of the file or command you attempted to run, as follows: Another reason for getting the message The system cannot find the path specified., is similar, but may not have to do with the jre directory. An update may assume the ISD installation was in the default directory. Then, if the update adds or changes files in a default path, but uses the existing environmental variables that defines a non-default path, to execute a program, a failure can occur. If the executable does not exist in that path, it may post the message or it may use an old copy of the executable, which may or may not cause another problem. Reference: The following information is just for reference to explain why there may be two jre directories under and how to avoid having two jre directories. The instructions in this section should not be needed, but can be used if having more than 1 jre directory causes a problem, after the completion of an ISD Server JRE update and restart of the OS.
Why there are two jre directories under? Generally, during the first director restart after installing Director's Server JRE update, a new jre directory named ' jre.new ' or ' jre.update.
' will be created first, and then the old jre directory and all its content will be removed and the new created jre directory with name ' jre.new ' or ' jre.update. ' will be renamed to “jre”. But sometimes on windows system, some files in the old jre directory(such as font files in jre lib fonts ) cannot be removed successfully because of some reason (e.g locked by windows, or permission needed), and the old jre directory cannot be removed completely. As a result, 2 jre folders will be still left in, and the bin java.exe will be located at the new jre directory. The JAVAHOME will also be set as the new jre directory in lwi conf javaHome.bat. After restarting windows system, the original locked files in jre directory may be unlocked sometimes (not always). But the removing and renaming operation will not be performed any more during normal director restart.
These instructions can be performed to make director active jre work from 'jre' directory. ( Note: Making backups before removing files is recommended.) 1. Check the value for JAVAHOME in lwi conf javaHome.bat. If it's jre, just keep 'jre' directory and remove other jre related directories, and do nothing further. Else, continue with the following steps.
Stop the director server. Remove other jre directories except the one defined in JAVAHOME (e.g jre.update.ISD637.IT15389), and then rename the remaining jre directory to 'jre'. Note: If 'jre' directory cannot be removed because of permission denied, try to remove the content of subfolders first, then remove 'jre'. For example, remove ' jre lib fonts ' first and then remove 'jre'. If the 'jre' directory still cannot be removed even after restarting Windows, move the content of active jre directory defined in JAVAHOME to 'jre'.
It should not matter if font files in 'jre' are still the old ones. Edit lwi conf javaHome.bat to make JAVAHOME be set as jre. Start the director server. Files in the Director/bin directory that use a hardcoded jre path. These files may need the change stated in the work-around, if the 'path' message is posted when they are used.

HiAll, I'm new to and have not used maven tool in the past. Our project is a maven project and I was given to run some tests for the project. I right clicked on 'pom.xml' in eclipse and selected 'Maven:test' and it throws me error 'The specified jre installation is not found'. Ihave my JAVAHOME set and can run ant build.xml with out any problem. Is there anything else I need to set for having Maven find my jre installation. As mentioned below, I have 1.6 installed and setup for accessing through eclipse.
